The United Nations Organization
A special role in the globalization of international efforts in the sphere of combating money laundering and financing of terrorism is played by the universal international organization – the United Nations.
The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945 by 51 countries for the purpose of maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights.
Thanks to its unique international character, the Organization can take action on a large range of issues, and provide a forum for its 193 Member States to express their views, through the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council and other bodies and committees.

International Monetary Fund
The International Monetary Fund or IMF is an organization of 187 countries, working to help global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.
The IMF’s engagement in anti-money laundering and countering financing terrorism started in 2001. During the past 10 years, the IMF’s efforts in this area helped shape international anti-money laundering and countering financing terrorism policies, and included over 70 AML/CFT assessments and a lot of technical assistance and research projects.
