1. Phoneme, its functions and variations.

1.1 definition of phoneme;

1.2 functions of phoneme (constitutive, distinctive, recognitive =identificatory);

1.3 phonological and phonetic side of phoneme;

1.4 allophones, their types: principal (=typical) and subsidiary ( combinatory and positional);

1. Problems and methods of phonological analysis.

1. Main trends in the phoneme theory.

5. Classification of vowels:

· according to the stability of articulation;

· according to the manner of articulation;

· according to the active speech organ and the place of articulation;
