The Tower of London is the most famous castle in England. The Tower of London is closely associated with William the Conqueror invaded and conquered England in 1066. William the Conqueror initially built a wooden Motte and Bailey castle and the famous, fortified, stone White Tower, which replaced the original timber Motte and Bailey castle, was completed in 1097. There are a total of 21 different towers which form the Tower of London castle complex. The Tower of London is notorious for the bloody executions, imprisonment and torture of the prisoners who were incarcerated in this famous castle of the Middle Ages.
Windsor Castle
Windsor is the oldest and largest castle which can boast continuous occupation for over 900 years. Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal family of England regard Windsor castle as their home. William the Conqueror chose the site of Windsor castle which was used by the Saxon Kings of the Dark Ages. Windsor castle contain many dungeons which were occupied by many famous prisoners.
