The Modal Verbs are also used to express: probability, supposition; doubt, astonishment; uncertainty; reproach; criticism of a past action; absence of necessity in the past (see the first chart). When the Modal Verbs express these notions, the main patterns of them are those presented in the sentences below. Study the patterns. Make sure you are familiar with all of them and you know howto translate the sentences from English into Russian.
