Many newspapers provide foreign-language or international editions. The popular ones fall into two categories: general newspapers and financial newspapers: The International Herald Tribune, published by The New York Times and the Washington Post and headquartered in France, has a worldwide circulation of about 200,000, most of it in Europe. The paper, which recently celebrated its hundredth anniversary, is printed in 12 cities around the world, including New York, Singapore, and Tokyo. USA Today International is a newcomer to the scene with a circulation of about 190,000, again mostly in Europe. The Gannett-owned paper is printed in Switzerland, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Most of its readers are U.S. citizens traveling abroad. USA Today recently became available in Russia. WorldPaper, published by the World Times Company in Boston, is distributed as a newspaper supplement primarily in Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East. It's printed in 25 different countries and boasts a circulation of about 800,000. The Financial Times of London, as its name suggests, specializes in economic news and has a circulation of about 300,000. The Economist, also based in London, carries financial news and analysis. Easily available in the United States, the weekly is printed in Virginia, London, and Singapore. It reaches about 500,000 readers. The Wall Street Journal's international editions reach about one million people, mainly in Europe, Asia, and South America. Other papers that enjoy international status are The New York Times, he Monde (France), El Pais (Spain), The Times (Great Britain), The Statesman (India), and Al Abram (Egypt). The international flow of news is dominated by global news agencies. Reuters, Associated Press, Agence France Presse, United Press International, and ITAR-TASS are the biggest, but in recent years more specialized news organizations such as the New York Times Syndicate and the Los Angeles Times Syndicate have also become important. As far as magazines are concerned, the Reader's Digest publishes more than 40 international editions that are distributed to about 28 million readers in nearly 200 countries. Time Warner, in addition to the international edition of Time, which is distributed in about 190 countries, also publishes Asiaweek and a newsweekly in Chinese. The international edition of Newsweek reaches about a half-million readers. Hearst Magazines International oversees the distribution of eight including Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, and Redbook —in more I tries. Cosmopolitan alone is sold in 31 countries, including Japan, Polar The magazine's success in Russia has been phenomenal, achieving a 500,000 in just two years. Elle has 25 editions in 45 countries with about 15 million readers. Smaller special-interest magazines are also growing internationally. A Spanish-language version of Popular Mechanics is sold throughout L Men's Health publishes a British edition as well as one for South Africa (where it's called Hombre Saludable). Many business magazines, including Business Week and Fortune, also have significant foreign readership.
