A Short History of the Field Social changes in 1950s
• Main factor is the growth of large corporations and tremendous increase of their power. Some transnational corporations became financially larger than some states where they operated.
• Hazardous production (chemical, etc.)
• Growth of social activism (anti-consumerism, environmentalism, human rights etc.)
