Task 1. Read the text and write out unknown words

AT THE HOTEL

 

When you are planning to go somewhere on business you must reserve accommodation at a hotel in advance. Otherwise yon may arrive at the hotel and be told that there are no rooms. For this purpose you call your business partners in the city you are going to and ask them to reserve accommodation in your name or you write a letter to die hotel you want to stay at. In your letter you ask to reserve a single room with a private bath and a telephone andstate the date when you will arrive. After arriving at the hotel you first come up to the receptionist and confirm your reservation. Then the clerk will give you a registration form to fill in and sign. In small hotels you simply sign the visitor's book and give your permanent address. The clerk gives you a key and the hotel porter takes your luggage upstairs to your room. Each hotel has a restaurant where you can have dinner or breakfast. You can also order meals to your room. In many hotels the cost of breakfast and some other services are included in the hotel bill.

In large hotels you may ask for any service by telephone. You tell the operator if you wish to be called at a certain time. You call room service when you want a meal or drinks sent up to your room, and you can have a lot of maid service if you need something (a suit or dress) cleaned or pressed. Let the hotel management know well in advance the day and time of your departure.
