Text B “Agro-ecology faculty (Agro chemistry and agro soil science)” I study at the Tyumen State Agricultural Academy. It was founded in 1959 as an Agricultural Institute. It got the title of the Academy on 3rd April, 1995. I am a second-year student of the Agro-ecology faculty (Agro chemistry and agro soil science faculty) of the Agro-Technology Institute. Our faculty was founded in 1995. Our faculty trains Agro ecologists. We study many different subjects: physiology and biochemistry of plants, plant protection, soil science, microbiology, land-use management, English, aspects of general ecology and others. All these subjects help us to become qualified specialists. My future speciality is connected with the environmental protection of grasslands and landscapes. By the environment we understand the whole complex of physical, chemical, biological and social factors, which influence the life and health of men as well as plants and animals. The environmental factors may have harmful effect on them. In recent years, it has become clear that if the present rate of pollution continues without control, it will lead to serious damage to all living things. It is necessary to establish harmful factors and control them. Life is impossible without plants. We breathe the oxygen which comes from plants. Water pollution is also harmful to life and health. Water can be a source of pathogenic bacteria, viruses and parasites. Pathogenic germs can be spread through food too. Food can become contaminated from products as well as during production, processing, transportation and storage. Soil pollution is one of the main causes of the spread of infectious diseases among animals and population of rural districts. On the other hand, pollution of soil by chemical fertilizers has a harmful effect on the population of industrial areas too. The climate is also an important factor. All these problems should be of great concern to ecologist. The students of our faculty carry out their experiments and research work in special laboratories and on experimental plots. On graduating from the Academy, I’ll receive a degree of an agro ecologist (Bachelor of Agriculture). I like my future speciality and find it to be very interesting and useful.
